Rollover claims life of Prescott man
Jason A. Sandvig, 24, died early Saturday morning after his pickup left Hwy. 35 and overturned in the town of Oak Grove, ejecting him. Pierce County emergency personnel received the alert at 1:38 a.m., and a medical examiner pronounced him dead at 2:08 a.m.
The driver's 2002 Ford F150 pickup had been traveling southbound on Hwy. 35 when he apparently lost control and the truck rolled several times.
A sheriff's news release did not include the exact location of the crash, but it was within several miles of Sandvig's home on 478th Ave.
Prescott police, ambulance and fire assisted sheriff's deputies, as did a medic from the Ellsworth Ambulance Service.
According to an obituary provided by Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Sandvig graduated of Prescott High School in 2003. He played baseball, football and basketball throughout his school days and enjoyed working with kids and watching his brother Aric play football.
The funeral service for Sandvig has been set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. A private interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Joseph's school gymnasium and from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church, Wednesday.
He is survived by his mother, Lori; two brothers: Nathan and Aric Sandvig; maternal grandparent, Betty Brown; and paternal grandparents Richard and Philomena Sandvig.
