Roberts man dies following rollover
A 25-year-old Roberts man died late Thursday, the result of injuries suffered when his car overturned about 11 p.m. near the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Packer Drive.
Brandon Beane, 25, 205 W. Pine St., Roberts, was transported by ambulance to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to Dan Burgess, Roberts police chief.
St. Croix County sheriff's deputies responded, along with EMS personnel from New Richmond, Roberts/Warren Fire & Rescue and United Fire.
Beane was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 12 when his 2005 Pontiac Sunfire veered into a ditch and rolled onto its roof. Beane, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
Burgess said slippery roads aren't believed to have been a factor in the crash but the sheriff's department is handling the investigation and a final determination probably won't be made until toxicology reports are returned from the state.
Beane had been scheduled to make a court appearance Jan. 27 before Judge Howard Cameron on a misdemeanor charge of battery, stemming from an incident last March.
