North Main Street between Division and Pine streets will be torn up this week for mill and overlay work.
City Engineer Reid Wronski says the $40,000 resurfacing project is designed to extend the road's life until a complete reconstruction becomes necessary.
Local motorists will be able to access the Main Street entrance to River Falls Tire from Cedar Street.
Other businesses in that stretch have a lot access from Cedar Street or the alley.
During the resurfacing, North Main Street's sidewalk will remain open. North Main Street traffic between Division and Pine will be detoured to Second Street.
Drivers and pedestrians should also be aware of other mill-and-overlay projects getting underway on Cedar and Fourth streets and also on the city's west side.
Wronski said these will all be finished by early October.
