St. Croix County motorists will be navigating more roundabouts in the near future.

Governor Scott Walker recently signed a $7,269,018.09 contract to improve four intersections and resurface a portion of Wisconsin Highway 65 in St. Croix County. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2012.

Chippewa Concrete Services Inc. of Chippewa Falls is the prime contractor of the project.

Four roundabouts will be constructed at the intersections of Wisconsin 65 and County G, County TT, 120th Street, and 130th Street. Resurfacing will occur on Highway 65 and U.S. 12, from 70th Street to the U.S. 12 East/WIS 65 intersection, between River Falls and Roberts.

Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2012, according to Dave Solberg, project manager for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

During the roundabout construction, local detours will allow access to Highway 65 and U.S. 12. Resurfacing will have minimal traffic impact.

Walker also recently signed a $24,762,161.36 contract to improve the Highway 65 interchange with I-94, between Hudson and Menomonie in St. Croix County. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2012.

Chippewa Concrete Services Inc. of Chippewa Falls is also the prime contractor of that project. They will reconstruct the interchange as part of the state's highway rehabilitation program.

Construction is scheduled for completion by November 2013.
