River Falls school district families: classes may be canceled Monday
River Falls School District Jamie Benson said Friday that with dangerous wind chills forecasted for Sunday night and Monday, school may be canceled. Benson said a final determination will be made this weekend.
“Due to the National Weather Service’s predicted wind chill warning for Monday, Jan. 6, the district will be providing families with an alert message on Sunday, Jan. 5, no later than 4 p.m. to let them know if there will be a late start or cancellation of school and activitieson Monday.
“Families may want to make tentative arrangements for Monday childcare if needed. The decisions made by the district to delay or cancel school are obviously made in the best interest of student safety.
“As always, regardless of the district’s decision regarding winter weather school closures, parents have the right to decide to keep their children home when they feel weather conditions are too risky.
“Again, we are certainly giving strong consideration of closing schoolon Monday. However if that decision is to be made, you will receive an electronic alert message on Sunday by 4 p.m.”
