Class of 1999 holds reunion
Organizers Abby Testa and Tiffany Joy have planned the River Falls High School Class of 1999's 10-year reunion, which will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, with a pot luck meal at Glen Park. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and their family members. From 6-7 p.m. that evening, a cocktail hour will be held at Bo's 'N Mine, followed by a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. and entertainment by a DJ at 9 p.m. Cost is $20 per person.
Volunteers are sought to help unload and stock Second Harvest delivery items for the River Falls Food Pantry on the second Thursday of each month at 8:45 a.m., located at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 S. Second St. There is no need to call or register to donate time. Persons interested should bring a two-wheel dolly if they own one.
Combined class reunion planned
River Falls High School graduates who experience their 50th or higher class reunion this year are invited to an open house with their spouses from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the River Falls Moose Lodge. United Way hosts volunteer event
United Way St. Croix Valley will kick off its 2009 fall fundraising campaign a Day of Caring volunteer event from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Teams of volunteers from local companies and individuals will meet at rally points, then proceed to nonprofit agencies and homes of seniors throughout Pierce and St. Croix counties to do small service projects such as raking leaves, washing first-floor windows and painting. The fundraising campaign runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 20, and will fund United Way initiatives and more than 60 local agency programs. Seniors in Pierce and St. Croix counties who would like volunteers to help at their home during the Day of Caring, or individuals who would like to volunteer their time to help others, should call 715-377-0203, ext. 105, or go to: www.unitedwaystcroix.org.
Music clinic to benefit food pantry
Brickhouse Music of River Falls and the Neil A. Kjos Music Company will host a free piano workshop featuring composer/concert artist/teacher/clinician Jane Bastien from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the store, 216 S. Talented persons wanted for fair show
Organizers of the Pierce County Fair Talent Show are seeking persons to take part in the one-hour event. Entertainers who sing, play an instrument, speak dramatic readings, juggle, dance, and perform magic tricks and more from each area city will appear during different time slots. River Falls contestants will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12. A talent show final will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, with medals and ribbons awarded, in addition to cash prizes.
