HFH hosts anniversary party
The public is invited to an anniversary party hosted by the St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Glen Park picnic shelter. The party will celebrate the partnership of donors, volunteers and homeowners during the last 10 years. Refreshments will be provided and the "Tin Pan Alley Cats" will perform from 2-4 p.m.
American Legion serves chicken

Author gives talk at library
As part of the River Falls Public Library's ongoing exhibit about logging in northern Wisconsin from 1830-1910, Hudson author Marybeth Lorbiecki will discuss her biography, "Aldo Leopold: A Fierce Green Fire." Lorbiecki, an award winning author of books for children and adults, will be at the library at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26. She will have copies of her books for sale and signing. Singles gather for picnic
RENEW, a spirituality-based singles group will hold its end of the summer picnic at the Glen Park shelter at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. Singles age 20 and over are invited to attend. Immunization clinic scheduled
Pierce County Public Health's monthly River Falls immunization clinic will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Ingram Center, 210 N. Lewis St. A consent form must be signed by the parent or guardian. If a child is sent with someone other than a parent (i.e., grandparent, babysitter, friend) signed written permission for the specific immunization(s) to be given that day must be provided. Donations are accepted at all clinic sites. Call a physician or the Public Health Department at 273-6755 with questions.
Barn dance will benefit free clinic
The Kinnickinnic Valley Health and Education Foundation will hold a Harvest Moon Barn Dance Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Bjerstedt Farm on Glover Road off Hwy. 35. This year's fundraising proceeds go toward a free clinic serving Pierce and St. Croix counties, slated to open spring 2007.
Dinner will be served from 5:30-7:30 p.m.; dancing from 7:30-11:30 p.m. with live music by "Stampede;" and many auction/raffle opportunities during the evening. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door or at First National Bank of River Falls, the Butterfly Boutique at River Falls Area Hospital and Lighthouse coffee shop. Faith in Action, a non-profit program serving older adults in St. Croix County, will hold a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 23. NEW RICHMOND: Free airplane rides offered for kids
A "Young Eagles" event will be held which gives children ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to ride in an airplane at no cost. Volunteer pilots will fly the planes. A parent or guardian must sign a permission form, available at the event or by request in advance. The rides will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 30, at the New Richmond Regional Airport.
