    Class reunion planned

    The River Falls High School Class of 1981 will hold its 25th reunion Saturday, Sept. 16, at Bud's Lanes. Classes of 1980 and '82 are invited to attend Friday night's social gathering at The West Wind beginning at 7 p.m. on the back deck.

    Women host fundraiser

    The River Falls Women of the Moose will hold a raffle in October at the Moose Family Center. Two handmade quilts will be raffled at the group's annual craft fair. Tickets will be available at a fundraiser/brat stand at EconoFoods on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1 and 2, from any member of the group or the day of the raffle. Proceeds of the raffle and craft fair will help support community programs including: the food basket at St. Bridget Church, the high school senior class party, the River Falls Food Pantry, Turningpoint shelter and others.

    Screenings available

    The Pierce County Public Health Department offers child health screening every month for residents under 21 years old. The preventive health checkup consists of assessments of nutrition, growth and development, vision, hearing, vital signs, blood and urine, and update on immunizations. This health screening meets the physical exam requirements for Head Start, Day Care and Kindergarten. Medical Assistance (MA) will cover the cost of the screening for eligible clients and those persons on BadgerCare and Healthy Start. For all others, a sliding fee scale may be used as a guide for suggested donations. Screenings are held in River Falls, Ellsworth, Elmwood, and Plum City. Call the Public Health Department for an appointment at 273-6755.

    String orchestra organizing

    Violinists, violists and cellists are invited to join a newly forming string orchestra program sponsored by the HeartStrings Parent Association. The 12 one-hour Saturday sessions will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 16, at the River Falls Academy.     STILLWATER, MN: Guest night planned

    The Croix Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus will hold a "Guest Night" when it invites men who like to sing to join the group.     ST. CROIX COUNTY: Immunization clinic scheduled

    The St. Croix County Department of Health and Human Services will hold an immunization clinic on the following times and days: 12-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the Community Center in Glenwood City; 12-4 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25, at the Public Health Department in New Richmond; and 4-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, in the Community Room of the Government Center in Hudson.     NEW RICHMOND: 'Home-a-Thon' begins Sept. 9

    The St. Croix Valley Builders Association will present its 2006 Home-a-Thon beginning Saturday, Sept. 9, showcasing 35 homes in Pierce, St. Croix and Polk counties. Tours of homes newly built by association members are available from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, some for three weeks; others for five weeks. Guidebooks, giving descriptions and addresses of homes, are available at participating western Wisconsin Kwik Trips, Amoco/BPs and SuperValu grocery stores beginning Labor Day weekend.     NEW RICHMOND: Acting classes offered

    Imagination Station, an introductory acting course for 5- to 7-year-olds; Young Performers Ensemble for students eight year old and up; and Teen Actors' Studio for experienced student actors 13 years old and up are all classes that are offered at the Old Gem Theater beginning Monday, Sept. 11.     HUDSON: 'Driving Miss Daisy' staged at The Phipps

    The Pulitzer Prize winning play "Driving Miss Daisy" will be staged at The Phipps Center for the Arts in nine performances Friday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 1. Performances will be given at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; with one at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for all students with a current ID.     HUDSON: Professional women meet
