Hamilton will submit a retirement letter to the town board, said Chairwoman Diana Smith. No specific date has been set for her retirement.

Hamilton became the treasurer for the town of River Falls 27 years ago in 1986 when she took over the job from Marge Baldwin.

Board members agreed she is well-known and well-liked by many in the town.

Smith and Clerk Ruth Stern have been splitting Hamilton's duties lately due to an extended illness.

Anyone interested in the treasurer position should contact Stern for the job description and information.

Other positions open for the spring elections are: Chair, held by Diana Smith; Supervisor 1, held by Leroy Kusilek; Supervisor 2, held by Siri Smith; and Clerk, held by Ruth Stern.

Candidates will be chosen during the 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, caucus at the Town Hall.

At the Dec. 17 meeting, the Town Board approved a written job description for the office of town treasurer beginning with the 2013-2015 term after a closed session meeting.

Chairwoman Smith said dog license renewal applications are available on the town website. Once completed, they should be mailed to Smith.

Stern reported 942 hits on the town website since October 2012.

She said the most hits occurred prior to the presidential election, but also in late November and December, which was likely when people were looking for tax information.
