RF man sentenced for role in drug death

A River Falls businessman found guilty of providing the morphine that led to another man's death was sentenced Tuesday to nine months in the Pierce County Jail.

Hardy White III, 43, N8463 1090th St., was also placed on probation for three years. Conditions of probation include staying sober; not entering any bar or tavern; not associating with known drug dealers; and paying court costs of about $300. He will be allowed work-release privileges during the jail term.

White, co-owner of Bubba's Fried Chicken in downtown River Falls, was first charged with one count of first-degree reckless homicide/ delivering drugs and one count of possession with intent to deliver narcotics in the Oct. 4, 2010, death of Jack Jenkins, 25, River Falls.

As a result of a plea agreement, on Nov. 14 the homicide charge was dismissed but retained as a "read-in" for sentencing. White was found guilty of the lesser charge.
