RF girls, Hudson boys win BRC track titles
The River Falls’ girls track and field team defended it Big Rivers Conference title while the Hudson boys’ won their ninth title in the last ten years at the 2014 BRC Championship Meet Tuesday, May 20, in River Falls.
The Wildcat girls finished with a total of 166.5 points to take first place while Hudson was second with 124.5. Hudson’s boys totaled 158 to beat out last year’s champion River Falls by 33 points.
Isabel Shafer and Annie Wagner were double winners for the Wildcat girls while Wade Malecha and Jared Johnson won two events each for Hudson’s boys.
Shafer won the 100 meter dash in 12.94 seconds and the 200 in 26.28, while Wagner took first in the 300 meter low hurdles with a time of 48.18 seconds and covered 35-feet, 4.75 inches to win the triple jump title.
Malecha won both hurdle events, taking the 110 meter high hurdles in 15.47 seconds and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 41.69. Johnson’s titles came in the shot put with a throw of 51-10.5 and the discus with a distance of 159-0.
