'Research to Jobs' is focus of Aug. 19 luncheon forum
MENOMONIE -- Business leaders in west central Wisconsin will learn how they can benefit from the recommendations of the UW System's "Research to Jobs Task Force" at a luncheon forum in Menomonie on Monday, Aug. 19.
Entitled "Research to Jobs - Applying Research to Advanced Innovation and Growth", the event is one of Momentum West's regional seminars held in partnership with the Wisconsin Innovation Network (WIN) Western Wisconsin Chapter.
The forum will focus on the topics of connecting businesses to the research resources available, promoting entrepreneurship and gaining a competitive advantage for students in high-paying jobs through research and development training.
Panelists will include Research to Jobs Task Force member Charlie Hoslet, managing director of the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations; Randy Hulke, director of the UW-Stout Discovery Center; and Brad Slaker, founder and CEO of DesignWise Medical. Tom Still, president of the Tech Council and Task force member, will moderate the discussion.
The event will be held in the new Jarvis Hall Science Addition, Room 142, 410 10th Ave. East, Menomonie at UW-Stout. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. Registration is $15 for general admission, $10 for Momentum West and WIN members, and free for students and WIN corporate memberships.
