Relay fundraiser nears goal

Over 900 people attended the American Cancer Society's 2010 Relay for Life at River Falls High School Friday night. Ninety-three local cancer survivors walked in the survivor's lap to kick off the evening and supporters purchased about 275 luminarias to honor and remember loved ones who battled the disease.

Speakers included honorary co-chair persons Lisa Johnson, Terry Casey and Deb Tokheim as well as Dr. Peter Dahlberg of the River Falls Medical Clinic.

So far the event has raised $175,000 towards the goal of $182,000. Donations are still being accepted and can be made on-line at www.relayforlife.org/riverfallswi or by mailing checks to the American Cancer Society's local community relations coordinator Kellie Burrows at 113 No. 3rd St., River Falls WI, 54022. For more information, contact Burrows at kellie.burrows@cancer.org.
