Rain, snow chase away drought
The U.S. Drought Monitor reports that less than 13 percent of Wisconsin is in drought, although at the beginning of 2013, more than 60 percent of the state was in drought.
The recent heavy precipitation is keeping some farmers out of the fields. They say they will be okay if they can start planting their corn by the middle of next month.
Farmland in southern Wisconsin is covered by several feet of water in some locations. That area has received about 10 inches of rain over the past two weeks.
