Powerlifters third at state
The River Falls High School boys’ powerlifting team placed third at the Division II Wisconsin High School Powerlifting State Meet in Osceola March 8-9 and several team members qualified to compete at the USA Powerlifting National Championships March 28-30 in Killeen, Texas.
Mark Miller had the highest individual finish for River Falls, placing second in the 132-pound weight class by lifting a total of 1,000 pounds, while Brian Miller placed fourth in the 123-pound class with a total of 810 pounds.
Other top ten places went to Riley Tschumper, sixth in the 123-pound class with a total of 800 pounds, Kenny Oberlin, sixth in the 132-pound class with 920 pounds, Colton Jones, ninth in the 242-pound class with 1,250 pounds, Cole Kaiser, tenth in the 114-pound class with a total of 655, and Shaun Kaiser, tenth in the 148-pound class with a total of 983.
Two River Falls girls also placed in the top ten of their respective weight classes. McKenzie Curtis took third at 198 pounds with a total lift of 915 pounds, and Dana Coggio was sixth at 148 pounds with a total lift of 740. The two, along with Cecily Ripley, will also compete at the national championships in Texas later this month.
