Police Beat: Drug bust; pregnant girlfriend jarred in stomach; and a text threat about ‘blowing (the) place up’
River Falls officers were called by an angry tenant to deal with suspicious drug activity outside the Red Cedar Estates apartments, 1460 E. Cemetery Road, after 1 a.m. Wednesday, June 4.
Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies assisted. One officer drew his gun. Another used a Taser stun gun.
Two men in their 20s, one from River Falls and one from New Richmond, were caught and arrested.
Charges ranged from possession of an electronic weapon, drug paraphernalia and meth, obstruction and a probation violation.
The 29-year-old River Falls suspect allegedly tried running. He tripped, fell and was caught.
Last week’s action took place in the apartment complex’s parking lot.
The complainant claimed drug dealings outside there have been going on for months, always late at night. The tenant who called 911 was said to be fed up by this.
--Arrested a 20-year-old man who lives in the 200 block of West Cascade Avenue for domestic disorderly conduct at that address Tuesday afternoon, June 3.
The alleged victim, the man’s live-in girlfriend who’s eight months pregnant, was already on her way to the hospital emergency room.
She said that during an argument her boyfriend punched her in the stomach. He denied doing so, claiming he accidentally elbowed her in the stomach.
The woman said she was in pain and feared for the safety of her unborn baby.
The man claimed he was attacked by the woman and had the scratch marks to prove it.
He also allegedly struck and dented their refrigerator and made a mess by throwing orange juice against a living room wall.
The two had argued about the man’s ex. He allegedly took his former girlfriend to a tractor pull in Roberts.
The man was taken to county jail in Ellsworth.
--Arrested a 34-year-old Chicago man for disorderly conduct after he allegedly sent threatening phone text messages to a couple in an apartment building at 1510 Cemetery Road last Wednesday after 3 a.m.
The suspect then drove to the couple’s apartment where officers waited outside. One text allegedly said he was coming over and “blowing (the) place up.”
The suspect is said to have a violent history and criminal background. Officers and a sheriff’s deputy approached his car with guns drawn.
The Chicago man was taken without incident to county jail in Ellsworth.
--Police also arrested a local man 26-year-old man, said to be a teacher in Osceola, for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession at his apartment on South Wasson Lane last Wednesday, June 4; and also jailed a 26-year-old man who works at the local Jimmy John’s for violating his no-drink probation after he was found passed out after work in his car, radio blaring, with an empty bottle of black licorice vodka under the driver’s seat.
