Officials from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department say the accident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. when Dustin Borst was allegedly driving an ATV illegally on 370th Avenue near 220th Street, about four miles northeast of Plum City.

After hitting a mailbox, Dorts was thrown from the ATV. He was then taken by a private vehicle to his home on 150th Street and 911 was called.

The Plum City Ambulance service responded and determined that Borst needed to be airlifted to Regions Hospital where he was later discharged.

Pierce County authorities are investigating the accident. A paramedic unit from Ellsworth and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department assisted on the scene.
