Plantings observe Arbor Day, boost tree population


A group comprised of City staff, local Lions Club members and Greenwood 5th graders gathered Friday, May 10, to commemorate Arbor Day by planting six new trees in Hoffman Park.

Everyone pitched in to commemorate Arbor Day by planting two swamp white oaks, two hackberry trees and two red maples. The students filled in the hole around the tree then placed mulch on top. The last step of the planting exercise was watering the new trees.
