Two men were transported from the scene, along CTH X east of CTH S, by the Elmwood Ambulance Service to the River Falls Area Hospital, according to information gathered on-scene. The men's names weren't immediately available, nor was the extent of their injuries.

The accident was reported to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department shortly after 9 a.m. The plane was said to have taken off from the Hastings (Minn.) airport, headed for Durand.

A search to find it followed, involving the Elmwood, Ellsworth, Lund and Spring Valley fire departments, along with the sheriff's department. The other fire departments were called off once the plane was located in Elmwood's fire district, around 9:40 a.m.

The plane didn't appear to have major damage. It was said to have skidded approximately 70 feet in a soybean field before coming to a stop and was upright. The property is reportedly owned by Tom Nelson.
