Pierce well represented at Farm Bureau annual meeting
Over 1,100 farmers and agriculturists attended the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s (FB) 94th annual meeting, Dec. 6-9 in Wisconsin Dells.
Member delegates set policy to guide the legislative agenda for the state’s largest general farm organization over the next year. Resolutions submitted by farmers through their county organizations addressed topics of wildlife, transportation, environmental issues and more.
Delegates from Pierce County were Dean Bergseng, River Falls, Jim Harsdorf, Beldenville, and Richard Franta, Spring Valley.
The annual Young Farmer and Agriculturists Conference is held in conjunction with the annual meeting, and provides farmers and agriculturists (ages 18-35) with an opportunity to network with their colleagues and gain information to benefit their farms and families. Attendees included Jacki Roden, Jessica Miller, Jennifer Webster, Richard Franta, John Hoikka and Justin Harsdorf.
Attendees to the conference were challenged by several excellent speakers including Dr. Jude Capper, who spoke about animal agriculture and sustainability, and American Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman, who updated members on current agriculture issues the organization is working on. The Farm Bureau Extravaganza took place on Saturday night, with James Wedgwood providing the entertainment.
