Pierce County speaking contest set for October
The Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association, along with Pierce County Land Conservation Department and UW Extension 4-H Youth Development Program, are now promoting the annual Pierce County Speaking Contest.
The contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the Pierce County Office Building, 412 W. Kinne St., in Ellsworth.
Students who place first in their division -- elementary, junior or senior -- will compete at the area contest on Oct. 26 in Eau Claire. First-place students will compete with students from Barron, Dunn, Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties.
Students who place first at the area contest will compete at the state level contest in November at UW-Stevens Point.
To register, complete an entry form and return it to the Pierce County Land Conservation Department by Monday, Oct. 9. Forms are available at www.co.pierce.wi.us on the Land Conservation page under Departments. Fax, mail or drop off entry forms.
