Pierce County Fair pre-fair activities
While the 131st Pierce County Fair doesn't officially open until Thursday, there was plenty going on Wednesday, the "pre-fair" period. There was plenty of judging, plenty of setting up, plenty bringing in animals and exhibits and grandstand pulls for both ponies and horses.
Each of the county's 4-H clubs have made barn quilts for this year's fair and are offering them to fairgoers via silent auction. They are on display outside the new exhibition building.
The fair officially opens tomorrow at 7 a.m. The gates will reamin open until 9 p.m. Thursday is 4-H Alumni Day as the fair celebrates the 100th anniversary of 4-H. A ceremony celebrating this century anniversary will take place in the picnic shelter starting at 11:45 a.m.
