Pierce County ADA charged with OWI-2nd
An assistant district attorney for Pierce County was arrested on a second drunken driving charge last weekend following the investigation of a crash in the town of Hudson.
The St. Croix County Sheriff's office said Thomas Gregory Amann, 55, Ellsworth, was booked into the St. Croix County jail on an OWI-second charge shortly after midnight Feb. 2.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a crash on near a curve in the road on County A at 11:08 p.m. Feb. 1. A car was driven into the ditch and crashed into trees. The temperature was three degrees and officers followed footprints in the fresh snow into the woods, across the Norlake parking lot and into the woods again, the sheriff's report said.
Eventually, Amann was apprehended by a deputy without an incident. Amman refused to partake in field sobriety tests and refused a blood test later at a hospital but didn't resist the officers, said Chief Deputy Scott Knudson.
Amann, who was convicted of his first OWI infraction on Oct. 19, 2011, was scheduled to appear in court on March 20 on the new charge.
