Pepin County Free Fair takes place this weekend


ARKANSAW - "Making the Best of Pepin County Better" is this year's theme for the annual Pepin County Fair takes place this weekend at the county's fairgrounds in Arkansaw next Arkansaw Elementary School.


Admisssion to the fair is free along with the inflatables, kids train ride and games. 

The fair begins at 9 a.m. on Friday and runs until 4 p.m. Sunday.

This year's fair will feature a petting zoo and pony rides from Fantasay Corral from Baldwin.

There will also be the first Pepin County Fair Agriculture Olympics taking place at 2 p.m. on Saturday along with Bingo sponsored by the Durand Optimist Club at 3 p.m. a classic car cruise at 4 p.m. the same day.  The auction will be a 6:30 p.m.

Plenty of food will be at the fair along with two eating events: a pulled pork dinner Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. sponsored by the Durand Fire Department and a Knights of Columbus breakfast from 8 a.m. 11 a.m.

Live entertainment acts include the Pepin County Talent Show Friday at 5 p.m. and the Hot Flashes music group playing at 8 p.m. on Saturday under the main tent.

Sunday's events feature the "Guess the Gadget" competition starting 11 a.m. in the fair barn and the Pepin Trailblazer's Horse Club horse show starting at 11:30 a.m.
