There have been big changes lately at the Main Street law firm now known as Rodli, Beskar, Neuhaus, Murray & Pletcher -- particularly in the firm’s name.

The law firm has new partners: Dan Murray, a new addition, and Max Neuhaus, who’s worked for Rodli Beskar for years.

Dan Murray

Dan Murray comes to Rodli, Beskar, Neuhaus, Murray & Pletcher with more than 20 years of legal experience.

“I am really excited about being back in River Falls and working with the people in the community,” Murray said. “I really like looking out my window and seeing the Kinnickinnic, so that’s an added bonus.”

Murray worked for Miller and Murray law office in Hudson from 2008 until coming to Rodli, Beskar on Aug. 1.

Before that he worked for River Falls Law Firm Hammerback, Murray and Jacobson -- now Hammerback Law Offices -- from 1993 to 2008.

Murray specializes in family law, divorce, custody and personal injury litigation.

“I do a lot of work representing individuals or small businesses with insurance disputes and just general business litigation,” Murray said. He also does some mediation.

Murray said his goal is just to help his clients. For him the best part of being a lawyer comes when he’s met that goal.

“Having clients say thank you for helping them out with a situation,” Murray said, “having clients that truly appreciate you putting the time and effort into their cause and obtaining a favorable result... that really means a lot, it’s worth it to get good results.”

Murray got his undergraduate degree from UW-Madison in 1989, and his law degree from Hamline University in May of 1993.  He officially started at Rodli, Beskar Aug. 1.

Max Neuhaus

A River Falls native, Max Neuhaus left town, and returned, simply because, as he said, it’s home.

“I just got homesick,” Neuhaus said. “There really wasn’t one thing. Was it this law firm? Was it the fact that both my parents were here? Was it the fact that I think we’ve got a phenomenal school system, or just wonderful human beings?

“It wasn’t any one of those things. It was just everything collectively. I think that just made me homesick. And I’m glad I came home.”

Where there is home, there is family.

For Neuhaus, that doesn’t just include his parents Ron and Lucinda, his wife Kate, and two-year-old daughter Amelia. It also includes his coworkers at Rodli, Beskar, Neuhaus, Murray & Pletcher.

“It does feel like a family,” Neuhaus said. “When people start working at this law firm, they tend to be here for a very long time, and I think that speaks volumes about just the kind of small business it is.”

Neuhaus first joined the Rodli, Beskar “family” in 1997, with a job as “office gofer,” making copies and coffee.

He returned to Rodli, Beskar as a law clerk in 2007, and was hired as an attorney after passing the bar exam in 2008.

He said his current position with Rodli, Beskar is definitely more responsibility than his first.

“But I wouldn’t want to have it any other way,” Neuhaus said. “This is my home. River Falls is my home. This law firm is my home, and doing business on Main Street is the perfect role in this community for me.”

Neuhaus said Rodli, Beskar is like a medical clinic, in that when a client comes in the front doors, there is someone waiting to help.

“Among eight attorneys here, somebody can help them with their legal problem,” Neuhaus said. “Nobody gets turned away.”

Neuhaus graduated River Falls High School in 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree from UW-River Falls in 2000. He received his law degree from Hamline University.

Neuhaus officially made partner in February, but the decision to add his name to the business name was made when Murray joined the law firm.
