The competition will run through Friday.

This is the eighth consecutive appearance to the national tournament for the Blugolds, who are led by head coach John Means, in his third season with the team. Eau Claire received an at-large berth to the tournament after finishing in fourth place at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship last fall.

Last season the team took seventh place out of 20 teams at the national championship.

Meghan Sobotta received second team All-American honors a year ago while she finished as Eau Claire's top golfer. She shot a plus-36 score of 328, which tied for 21st.

Obermueller finished 62nd overall a year ago.

Eleven conferences were granted automatic qualification and nine teams were selected on an at-large basis from conferences and the remaining independent institutions. Eleven individuals, not from selected teams, also were selected for the championships this year.

The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. The tournament consists of 72 holes of play over four days of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team's total score.
