Oak Grove: Meeting Tuesday on sediment reuse for road
Lametti and Sons, a Minnesota-based construction company, has requested approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to use dredged sediments from the Mississippi River for road construction in the Town of Oak Grove in Pierce County.
The material comes from the dredge disposal site located at the Southport Barge Terminal at St. Paul. The disposal site is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The sand-like material would be used as fill in road construction.
A public meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Oak Grove Town Hall, N5495 CTH QQ in Prescott, to explain the proposed reuse of this dredge material.
The road construction project is located at a county-approved, clean-fill site located near 1168th Street in Prescott. The DNR required the sediment be tested and it has been found to be non-hazardous. The volume of material is about 6,000 cubic yards.
DNR will host the meeting and provide information on the use of the material and the analytical testing. DNR will consider any comments received from the public as part of its review. Comments can be offered at the meeting or sent to Jill Schoen, WDNR, P.O. Box 4001, Eau Claire, WI 54702 or to
email@example.com. Comments will be received through Friday, Feb. 24.
