Swenson was also a prolific letter writer whose ideas on inventions, politics, energy, the environment, government waste and more appeared often on the Journal's opinion pages.

Five days before Swenson's death, his older sister, Shirley J. Sitz, 85, was found dead outside the Edgewater seniors apartment building, 629 N. Main St., where she was a resident. Sitz had apparently wandered from her apartment during the night, gone outside and fallen. Her body was discovered the next morning.

Services for John Swenson will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Rush River Lutheran Church, N8623 Cty. Rd. Y, rural River Falls.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Look for John Swenson's obituary in the Feb. 24 print edition of the River Falls Journal.
