North of City Hall, two old buildings slated for demo
Tuesday night, July 23, the River Falls City Council voted to adjust the 2013 budget by $10,330 to include asbestos removal from two city-owned buildings north of City Hall, Lewis and Maple streets.
The former Cenex building and old freight warehouse both have asbestos to be extracted before the structures can be demolished.
Demolishment is the first step before the area – Clark Street to the west, Division Street to the north and the Kinnickinnic River to the east – can be redeveloped.
A cement bunker nearby will also be torn down. Demolishment is set for September.
An abatement contract was approved with Asbestos Removal Services of Frederic. Work should start in August.
