Customers will have to get their latest Mr. Movies rental from a new site next month.

"We're really excited about being more centrally located on Main Street," said owner Laurie Henn, who also owns Mr. Movies in Hudson and Menonomie. "I hope we'll pick up on the downtown foot traffic and benefit from being right across from the Falls Theatre. That's a movie-minded location."

Mr. Movies will likely make the move early next month from its spot in the building behind Bo Jon's Flowers, be closed for two days then reopen in the building space that held Gemini Jewelers, 120 S. Main St., before it went out of business last spring.

Henn signed an 18-month lease with options there. She said the new location will have a third less space, which is just what she wanted.

The layout will be similar but more efficiently organized. The business also plans to lower prices for new and older movies and allow users to return them later in the day instead of at noon.

Mr. Movies has been at its current location since December 1991. Henn said other factors contributed to the move.

"We have a good location now, but there is a perception that we're on the backside of downtown and not that easy to find," she said. "The central location in the middle of Main Street increases our visibility and also puts us closer to the university so maybe we can attract more college kids."
