Miss Wisconsin finishes No. 8
Miss Wisconsin, Christina Thompson, 23, said she was honored to finish in the Top 8 at the Miss America pageant.
The Pleasant Prairie native now lives in Madison.
Thompson survived three cuts during Saturday night's finals in Las Vegas. But her name was not called when the four runners-up and the winner were announced.
Miss Michigan, Kirsten Haglund, won the crown.
Thompson admitted being disappointed but she was happy she gave it her all.
She had the only instrumental in the talent competition, a classical violin piece called "Preludium and Allegro."
In the final question, Thompson was asked about the world's perception of the United States.
She said more must be done to spread the word about our strong community service.
