Years ago, Milwaukee was considered the bowling mecca of America.

Well, not anymore.

Monday, the U.S. Bowling Congress said it was planning to move its headquarters from suburban Greendale to Arlington Texas where they're negotiating to buy land and buildings.

The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America has its complex in Arlington and they'd have to approve the move.

Bowling Congress president Jeff Boje says it makes sense to join with the proprietors to create what he called an "international campus."

The Congress now serves over 2.5 million bowlers. It was formed three years ago by the merger of four smaller groups.

Recently, the Congress said it was moving its Masters' tournament from Milwaukee to Las Vegas in 2009. It was one of four majors on the bowling circuit and it will not be held this year.
