Melinda M. Zellmer, 50
Melinda M. (nee Van Heukelom) Zellmer, age 50, of River Falls, Wis., died Sunday, Nov. 24, at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis following a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Melinda was born on Nov. 21, 1963, in Red Wing, Minn., the daughter of Jerome "Jerry" and Beryl (Helders) Van Heukelom. She was a 1982 graduate of River Falls High School. Melinda married Randy Zellmer on May 4, 2002, at First Covenant Church, River Falls.
Melinda was a very selfless, caring person. She was always thinking of others. Her family always came first and meant the world to her. Her daughter, Tia, was her pride and joy. She always looked forward to attending all of her school events and cheering her on at her sporting events. She loved baking, knitting, sewing, jewelry making, and other crafts, the holiday season and traveling.
She will be forever missed by her husband, Randy Zellmer of River Falls; daughter, Tia Harris, River Falls; parents, Jerome "Jerry" and Beryl Van Heukelom, River Falls; brother, Duane (Bernadette) Van Heukelom; step-sons, James (Tracy) Zellmer and Zachary Zellmer; nieces, Molly, and Morgan Van Heukelom. She is further survived by other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents: Dick and Molly Van Heukelom, and William and Irene Helders; and half brother, Kenneth Evan Cowles.
Funeral services for Melinda will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at First Covenant Church, 1374 N. Main St., River Falls. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. at the church on Saturday. No other visitation will be held.
