Marie Weishaar, 90
Marie Weishaar, 90, of River Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 15, in at the Kinnic Long Term Care Facility.
Marie was born Nov. 8, 1922, in River Falls, to John and Katherine (Kryzer) Cernohous. She graduated from River Falls High School in 1940. She went to be a secretary for Langwear until 1944 when she started raising her family.
Marie married Edwin Weishaar in 1942 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls.
She enjoyed crocheting, which she shared with several persons throughout her life. She also enjoyed sewing and made lots of children's clothes. She also made everything from scratch when it came to cooking; her specialty was poppy seed kolaches and homemade noodles.
Marie was dedicated to her faith and participated in many church activities at St. Bridget's. She was on the funeral committee, quilting group, donut makers, and secretary of the Diocesan deanery. She was on the senior citizen board and played lots of cards at the senior center and at home as well.
Marie is survived by her four children, Renee (Don) Carufel of Somerset, Ronald (Linda) of River Falls, Thomas (Kathleen) of Baldwin, and Daniel (Patrice) of River Falls. She is survived by ten grandchildren, Richard, Robert, and Randy Carufel, Donna Smith, Kerri Olson, Jess Weishaar, Amanda and Zachary Weishaar, Elliott and Danielle Weishaar. She is survived by 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Anna Phillipps.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; parents; and brothers William, Arthur, Gordon, and Ernest Cernohous.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the church and for 2 hours prior to the Mass on Monday.
