Marie E. Armbruster, 91";
Marie E. Armbruster, age 91, of Hager City, died peacefully on July 9.
Daughter of George and Ethel (Dravis) Wirth, she was born in the town of Clifton on Feb. 2, 1922. Marie graduated from River Falls High School in 1940. Loving music, she played the piano and accordion (by ear), and she entertained with her father in a dance band. She met and then married Bernard A. Armbruster on June 9, 1943. Farmers at heart, Bernard and Marie worked hard side by side, and there was little time for music. Besides maintaining a household and helping out on the farm with every conceivable task, she, for a time, became the head cook at O'Brien's in River Falls. She later operated the food stand at Proach's Ballroom, serving her famous hot beef sandwiches. Those who knew Marie will likely remember her warm smile, and those who were fortunate to eat of her baking or cooking knew she was a master in the kitchen.
Marie is survived by four children, Loretta (Jerome) Brickner, Ellsworth; David Armbruster, Cambridge, N.Y.; Mary (Dennis) Kees, Ellsworth; and Patricia (Steve) Linehan, River Falls. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Francis Benedict of River Falls.
Her husband, Bernard; one brother, Marvin Wirth; and her parents preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until time of service.
