Marcella Janovec, 94";
Marcella "Marcy" Janovec, 94, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls after a heroic battle with pneumonia.
Marcy was born on Aug. 4, 1919, in Hammond, Wis., to Arthur and Clare (McGinley) Bishop. She was the second oldest of a family of 17. She was like a mother to some of her younger siblings. Marcy married Frank Janovec in November of 1936.
She led a very active life. Marcy volunteered many years at the Kinnic Nursing Home and at St. Bridget Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing handiwork such as sewing, crocheting and quilting. All of her children received a hand sewn quilt. She also had a passion for flowers, especially her beautiful African violets. She was an avid walker for many years.
She is survived by four children, Barb Wallrich, Paul (Mary Ann) Janovec, Jennifer (Dave) MacMullan, and Mary Jo (Neil) Hase; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three siblings, Helen Lamson, Jerome (Judy) Bishop, and Leo (Shirley) Bishop; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, James; and two grandsons, Steven, and Daniel.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date at St. Martin's Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
The family would like memorials to be made to St. Bridget's Church Building Fund.
