MacBride named NAIA Scholar-Athlete
River Falls High School graduate Katie MacBride, a senior forward at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., has been named a 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MacBride, a natural science major who is minoring in physical science, totaled 16 points this season, netting five goals and garnering six assists. She led the Lady Wildcats with 53 shots, including 27 shots on goal, and had one game-winning goal.
MacBride tied a school record with four assists against Knox (Ill.) College on Sept. 10, and notched a hat trick with three goals in a 4-0 victory over Greenville (Ill.) College on Sept. 20. She was the only member of the soccer team to be honored by the Heart of America Athletic Conference, garnering third-team honors.
Four hundred eighty-five players were recipients of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honor. Student-athletes must have a junior or senior academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
