Lowered flag honors embassy-attack victims

President Obama has ordered that United States flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset, Sunday, Sept. 16, as a mark of respect for the memory of John Christopher Stevens, United States Ambassador to Libya, and American personnel killed in the senseless attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya.

The Governor has also directed that federal and state flags shall be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the state of Wisconsin in accordance with the president's order.

The Presidential Proclamation calls for flags to be lowered at the White House, on all public buildings and grounds, at military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories, as well as all U.S. embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad.
