Love to read? You're invited to celebrate new library in Roberts
The newly-constructed Hazel Mackin library in Roberts is now in operation. A dedication ceremony of the building to Mackin, who taught in the Roberts Grade School for over 30 years, is planned for Saturday, Oct. 30, beginning at 3:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Three Roberts high school graduates will be part of the dedication ceremony. The main speaker will be Sister Colman O'Connell who served two terms as president of the College of St. Benedict of St. Joseph, Minn., and has four honorary and one earned doctorates. Sue Graham Fisher, a retired university professor, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Twin Cities artist Harold Lamson, who painted the portrait of Mackin which hangs in the library, will display his paintings.
There will be refreshments, art show, children's activities, author visits and more. The library is located at 311 West Warren St. in Roberts.
