Jensrud, the son of Troy and Tammy Jensrud, will travel to Tulsa for the national competition Dec. 28-30.

Jensrud, a third-grader at Rocky Branch Elementary School, has been racing since he was seven. He competes every Saturday night from April through September at his home track, Thunder Hill Speedway in Menomonie, and clinched his first state title at the 15th annual Wisconsin Dirt Track Championships at Thunder Hill Sept. 8.

The races generally consist of two heats with 16 karts racing up to 20 laps on the 1/8-mile track. Speeds can reach up to 50 miles per hour.

The national competition in Tulsa will be hosted by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart with appearances by other NASCAR drivers including Kasey Kahne. Jensrud's favorite NASCAR driver is Wisconsin native Matt Kenseth.

Jensrud's local sponsors include Hove Auto Body, Applied Design and Fritz Motorsports.
