‘With a little help from my friends’ poetry and music tribute to Lennon at library

Local poet Thomas R. Smith said this poster at his home was one of the beginning elements of his Beatles project. Submitted photo to River Falls Journal.

River Falls poet Thomas Smith will host his second annual tribute to John Lennon and the Beatles in poetry and song at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union St., at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. Smith will give readings from his chapbook, “The Night We Saved the Beatles,” plus acoustic selections from the Lennon/Beatles music catalog. Smith says the response to last year’s Lennon tribute was so positive he’s bringing back another tribute this year “by popular demand.”
