The winners of the Hudson Area Joint Library "Merry Mitten" contest were recently named. Theresa Schlotte's mittens "Stained Glass," were voted best overall. She said she prayed when she made the mittens that if they won she would donate the cash prize towards the fund set up for her friend, Janis Blackford who is being treated for cancer. Both women are River Falls residents.

Judy Bauer made the mittens voted most creative. Titled "Merry Music," her mittens have musical motifs knitted into the design. She said she made them for her sister, Margaret, who loves music. Bauer, daughter of Hudson residents Deanne and Gerald Bauer, was visiting from Seattle where she now resides. She donated her prize money to the Friends of the Library.
