Letter: Give pedestrians a break!
I have noticed that the motor vehicles are not stopping at crosswalks in River Falls.
This can be a huge issue with pedestrians who cannot hear or see well. We also need to look out for people with little children.
Some drivers don't even stop and look if people are waiting. This is a safety issue for the people who are about to cross.
Pedestrians need to use the crosswalk switches, and that will be better safety habits. Cars don't wait for people to cross fully.
When the timer is running out, cars don't wait for the light to turn green. Once the pedestrians have gone past, motor vehicles just blow by them.
Cars could have an accident, which could lead to something bigger than just a crash.
If pedestrians use the crosswalk switches in River Falls, and drivers obey the signs, River Falls will have safer crosswalks.
