With his family by his side, Lawrence "Larry" Gienau died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 9. He was 64 years old.
Larry was originally from Iowa, but lived in River Falls with his wife Ellen, for more than 40 years. Together they raised four sons: Craig, Jeff, Ryan, and Keith.
Larry was a kind man who loved to visit with people; he could carry on a conversation with anyone and always made them feel welcome. Visitors could count on a treat from the supply of Tootsie Pops and hard candy he always had on hand. He was a sentimental man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. What many people did not know is that Larry played the accordian. He and his granddaughter provided the entertainment at the last family Christmas party.
Larry is survived by his dad Louis; wife Ellen; sons Craig, Jeff (Amy), Ryan (Molly), and Keith; and his grandchildren Linzie, Kyle, Jessie, and Ashley. He is also survived by his brothers Bruce, Richard, Robert, Raymond, and Glen; and numerous relatives; and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; and brothers David, and Gary.
In accordance with Larry's wishes, a funeral will not be held. The family will have a private celebration of Larry's life.
