Lavern (Vern) Haupt, 66";
Lavern "Vern" Haupt, age 66, of River Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 31, at his home.
Vern was born the son of Carl and Inga (Hom) Haupt, on July 25, 1947, in Washburn County, Wisconsin. He grew up in the town of Chicog, in Washburn County. Vern worked for the Railroad and was a cook at the Water's Edge in River Falls. He also clipped cow's for show. On June 30, 1990, he married Rita Aebly in Martell, Wis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding motorcycle. Vern was a great cook and loved being a grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Inga Haupt; brother, Vernon Haupt; sister-in-law, Margaret Haupt; and brother-in-law, Larry Curtis.
Vern is survived by his wife, Rita Haupt; children, Charlene Stuart, Dawn (David) Sims, Michelle Straka, and Brian (Peggy) Haupt; grandchildren, Jeramy, Tristan, Chandra, Joshua, Justin, Jacob, Samantha, and Dominic; great-grandchildren, Bryliee and Jaelynn; siblings, Harold Haupt, Darlene Curtis, Butch (Karen) Haupt, Bertha (David) Hanson, Diane (Gary) Scalzo, Doris Petre, and Raymond Haupt; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls. Memorial visitation will also be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
