Kenosha golfer makes cut at Women's Amateur Public Links tournament

Carly Werwie of Kenosha is among 64 golfers who advanced Tuesday at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links tournament at Erin Hills near Milwaukee.

Werwie shot a two-over-par 75 Tuesday in her second and final round of stroke play and she tied for 14th overall at five-over-151.

Lizette Salas of Azusa California and Katie Kempter of Albuquerque New Mexico won the stroke play portion of the tournament, both at two-under-144.

Missing the cut were Eleva Vukmir of Wauwatosa at 165 and Molly Schemm of Fort Atkinson at 166.

Defending champion Mina Hargarae missed the cut at 161 and 10-year-old Allisen Corpuz, the youngest player ever in a USGA event, was eliminated with 169.

Match play begins this morning and runs through Saturday. Werwie opens against Grace Na of Oakland, Calif.
