Franklin "Ken" Dietzler, 87, River Falls, Wis., died Friday, March 29, at the River Falls Area Hospital, River Falls.
Ken was born on June 11, 1925, in Shawano, Wis., the son of Frank and Ivadelle (Jacobsen) Dietzler. He was a 1943 graduate of Roberts High School and in 1944 entered the U.S. Navy, where he performed training exercises on a destroyer in later years of WWII. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he entered River Falls State Teachers College where he majored in physics and math. In the fall of 1946, he met Delores Hauth, a young secretary from River Falls. They were united in marriage in 1948. To this union, a son, Daniel was born.
Ken's career path took him to the U of M and later to the Goodyear Corporation. After a few years, he and Delores moved to Akron, Ohio, where Ken was instrumental in introducing computers to the Goodyear Corp. In his 25 years with Goodyear, he went from supervising a staff of one to a staff of 30.
In 2004, Ken and Delores made their home in River Falls to be close to family.
Ken was from a generation that believed in integrity, hard work, and humility, with a sincere desire of giving back.
He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Delores of River Falls; sister, Helen Werner of Maple Grove, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
His son, Daniel, in 1970; parents; and his brother, Howard, preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls. Rev. Gerald Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the Mass.
