Kathleen (Peskar) Baker, 74";
Kathleen (Peskar) Baker, age 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend. Kathleen passed away at her home in the company of family on Dec. 25.
She grew up on the Peskar farm in River Falls, and made a mission of keeping up with her three older brothers. Kathleen was a gifted musician and could create complex and spontaneous accordion and piano arrangements, filling a room with booming strains of a rousing polka, a Scott Joplin rag or Dixieland jazz. Ever the tomboy, she was also a born matriarch, life coach, rabble rouser, and stalwart advocate for dogs and underdogs. She treasured her family and friends, her animals, and her community and lived to serve, protect, and guide those she held dear.
Preceded in death by parents Anna and Frank Peskar.
Survived by husband Roland Baker; daughters Barbara Ombui, and Bonnie (Kent) Fox; grandchildren Jason (Michelle) Wittwer, Jamie Wittwer, Nick Shillingford, Adam Fox; great-grandchildren Hayden Wittwer, and DeLanie Wittwer. Also survived by brothers Bud, Kenny, and Stanley Peskar.
Memorial service will be held at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course from noon-3 p.m. on Jan. 11. Guests are encouraged to share memories and photos.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Gregory's Gift of Hope (animal shelter) are preferred.
