Wildcat senior Wes Karras fired a 78 at last Tuesday's WIAA Division 1 regional tournament at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior to earn one of four individual qualifying positions at this week's sectional tournament in Marshfield.

Karras and Kendall Faanes of Eau Claire North each carded rounds of 78 while Austin Byrd of Chippewa Falls shot 80 and Luke Joswiak of Eau Claire North finished with 81 to all advance as individuals.

Eau Claire Memorial won the regional with a team score of 305 and will advance as a team along with Superior (308), Hudson (310) and New Richmond (314). River Falls finished fifth with 338 followed by Eau Claire North with 344, Chippewa Falls with 348 and Menomonie with 369.

The top four teams, and top four individuals who are not members of qualifying teams, moved on to the sectional tournament Tuesday, June 1, at Holm's River Edge in Marshfield. The top two teams and top three individuals who are not members of qualifying teams at the sectional will advance to the WIAA State Golf Championship Tournament June 7-8 at University Ridge in Madison.

In addition to Karras' team-low score of 78 for the Wildcats last Tuesday, Pat Cox carded an 84, Holden Ohlsen finished with 85, Jake Knotek shot 91 and Brad Freeborn finished with 96.
