Julie Ann Geraets, 33
Julie Ann Geraets, 33, of N5277 County Road CC, Elmwood, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the River Falls Area Hospital from a pulmonary embolism after a recent battle with ovarian cancer.
Julie was born on Jan. 12, 1976, in Ashland, the daughter of David M. and Robyn L. (Rockenbach) Lulich.
She attended Mason Grade School and Saint Agnes Elementary School and Junior High. She graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1994. She was very active in band, cheerleading, forensics and FFA. She was a 10-year member of the Green Acres 4-H Club.
She attended the UW-River Falls and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture communications. She was also a member of AOII Sorority and was an AGR fraternity sweetheart. She was a member of the National Agri-Marketing Association, American Horticultural Society and FFA Alumni. In December of 2007 she completed her master's degree in training and development at UW-Stout in Menomonie.
On Oct. 1, 2005, she was united in marriage to Anthony J. Geraets in Ashland. She was employed and truly enjoyed working as the director of marketing and communications at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. She also created her own design and wedding coordination business which was very successful, known as Spun Sugar Designs. She loved gardening, reading, ceramics, movies and spending time with her family and friends, who she loved very much. She was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland.
Survivors include her husband, Tony; and stepdaughter, Amber Geraets; both of Elmwood; parents: David M. and Robyn L. Lulich of Mason; sisters: Maria (Jeff) Sauber of Lakeville, Minn., and Cindy Lulich of St. Louis Park, Minn.; brothers: David Alan (Lori) of Lyndon Station, and Joseph of Mason; niece , Olivia Lulich; nephews: Ethan Lulich and Jacob Sauber; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 7, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland, with Father Frank Folino, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Spring interment will take place in Saint Peter Cemetery in Dauby.
